How is the physical presence requirement for citizenship calculated?

Only the six (6) years preceding the date of your application are taken into account. Within that six-year period, every day you spent in Canada as a permanent resident counts as a full day. If you became a permanent resident less than six (6) years ago, your calculation period starts on the date you became a permanent resident.
